PATTI SMITH QUARTET

The Godmother of Punk, Patti Smith, turns 80 this year, and brings that milestone to the Royal Hospital Chelsea in 2027, two years after marking the anniversary of ‘Horses’, her debut album and one of the most influential records in rock history.

Her songs need little introduction, from the opening howl of Gloria to the urgency of Land, the Grammy-nominated Because The Night (co-written with Bruce Springsteen) and the rallying cry of People Have The Power.

She’ll perform as the Patti Smith Quartet, joined by Tony Shanahan on bass and keyboards, Jackson Smith on guitar and Seb Rochford on drums.

Smith’s first London show, at the Roundhouse in 1976, is widely credited with helping spark the punk explosion that swept Britain the following year, one of the defining nights in the capital’s live music history.
